raise your hands

So how many of you have been to the zoo? Raise your hands. The zoo is a wonderful place to go and hangout for a day. I love the animals and I also love to take pictures of them. I was really excited because I had my big zoom lens to get close and to hopefully take some good pictures. It was a beautiful day and we had a great time. here are some off my personal favorites.

getting better

the following is a picture i submitted in the burst of color challenge at dpchallenge.com. Aaron Ricklefs is my "model" and was a excellent sport by letting his dad shoot him in the face. It was great fun shooting this challenge and I love the results. The picture did pretty well. My personal best so far. It took 25th out of 283. Thankyou to Aaron and his dad by making this capture possible.

Here are some other "shots".

I keep telling myself that this would have been a better entry for the challenge. I guess I will never know.

the small colorful frustrating stressful little cube

Its finally happened.

For starters, this might be the first time that I have setup to photograph something and actually like what i photographed. I mean, as far as this type of setup is concerned. I knew what I wanted in my head and I actually was able to photograph it, edit it, and come away happy.

Secondly, I have entered this photo into an online photography challenge called dpchallenge.com. The challenge was negative space III. Its only my second entry to the website but I have known of it for years. Last time was about maybe 3 years ago and I had my Kodak camera. I took a pic of a barn with a sign in front of it. But I didn't know anything back then so I completely messed the image up. It looked all pixilated and people left me comments like, " I think its pixilated, something doesn't look right." So hopefully, this will do better. Theres like 160 submissions so far. The voting starts June 20th. So go there and vote for my pic. I hope to be in the top 50 at least so we'll just have to see.

I'm just excited that I did something that I have been procrastinating about doing for a very very long time. woot woot.

this girl.....

I just said goodbye to a girl that i wont be seeing again for a very long time.

Its sad to see her go. I'm thankful that she was a part of my life in so many ways and I hope that it continues in the future. I have many good memories with this girl. Memories that when I think of them, still make me smile. Pictures that when I look at them, still make me remember the good times we had together. I will cherish those memories. The thing that stands out to me the most is her smile. Its a smile that when you are looking at her, you just cant help but smile yourself. I smile that could cheer you up on a wet and rainy day. A smile that is friendly and warm. I'm thankful that I could see that smile again these past couple of days.

Its amazing how life moves so fast. The days seem to fly bye. The seasons come and go so quickly. Everything seems to sprint by without ever slowing down. Well this weekend, I got to walk. I slowed down and enjoyed the company of my closes friends. It does a person good to slow down to take a breath of what life should be like. With plenty of laughter and joy, we did things that we haven't done in a long time together. It was incredibly fun and I wish it didn't have to end.

But here I am. Sitting in my chair, writing down a memorable weekend that I will never forget with the most loved people in my life. The pictures that I took will serve as visible memories of when we all slowed down and took a walk together. They say that all good things come to an end sooner or later. I just wish that they never had to.

enter through the narrow gate.....

Mattew 7:13@14
"Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it."
